5 types of shoes you simply must own

A purely indulgent piece fueled by my love of shoes. I was a late bloomer to the shoe addicition that seems to plague many women. For years living in London I actually only owned one pair of heels. It wasn't until I moved to Melbourne that I decided to catch up! So if you only own 5 pairs of shoes (and I dont mean boots or sandals, pure shoes) here is my pick of what you should have.

1. The nude shoe

Yes I have previously written about the fabulous nude shoe. I don't think I need to say any more than, they make your legs look thin and go with everything. Get a pair.

2. The bright shoe

If you like wearing lots of black, and I do. A brightly coloured shoe will give the outfit a touch of class and break up the black. I love bright shoes and denim, I have an orange and lilac pair which just bring a small statement to a simple outfit. A bright shoe is also on trend for this seasons colour mixing trend, try a royal blue shoe with a pair of purple jeans and a pink or white top. Fabulous.

3. The black ballet flats

An absolute must. You need ballet flats for all the reasons I mentioned in the staples post. But black go with everything. Add something interesting to them and maybe get an embellished pair. Or create your own with some bows or buckles and sparkles from spotlight.

4. A peep toe shoe

And I don't mean flat peep toe shoes. A peep toe lets you poke out a put of colour on your pedicure and makes any outfit more glamorous. Versatile and fabulous there is a reason all the celebs where them. These are the best shoes for full skirts and pencil skirts and dresses. Get them in as many colours as you can afford.

5. A T-bar shoe

This seasons T-bar shoes are not from your nannas cupboard at all. Perfect with tea dresses and spring wear, they also add to any race wear dress and have the benefit of actually being more comfortable and there is less movement of the foot.

I'd love to hear what your 5 must have shoes are!

  1. I'd add a great pair of leather boots to this list. Great for transition seasons (with a dress) as well as colder months with jeans etc.
