The Personal Shopping Experience

I was going to write this post as a ‘What did I learn from the $150 project’, but to be totally honest I found the experience fun and very easy and couldn’t really beat what Sally has already written. Probably helps that I knew my subject well, but still doing personal shopping online was actually a great experience. So rather than boring you all to death about my perspective, Sally suggested that perhaps I should talk about what I learnt for future clients. What a good idea.

Sally and me - she is full of good ideas

So here is what I have learnt and how I think I can help you if you are interested in a wardrobe revamp or some sort of personal shopping experience.

1.       Online shopping is great to do for people, but I think it would be near impossible if I had never met Sally in person. I knew her body shape and her colouring, thrown in with her detailed brief and budget it was actually very easy. I’ve always had a knack for finding awesome things online and that goes for travel, experiences, accessories, health and beauty and gifts. So it was great to put that to use.

2.       The brief is very important. Sally’s brief (Despite me knowing her) was very detailed and clear. It’s made me think about creating a briefing template (This is the advertising exec in me coming out) for any future clients. Something we can discuss in person and work out what is needed.

3.       What changes are people trying to make and where do they need help. I see massive potential in exploring themes for a revamp. Here are a few I thought of:

a.       The 5 shoes you need to great multiple different outfits.
b.      How to dress for spring
c.       The denim makeover
d.      The colour makeover
e.      Top 5 going out outfits for all occasions
f.        How accessories change and create outfits
g.       The outerwear challenge
h.      Clothing to wear for star jumps. Ok that one is stupid, I just like doing start jumps.

Yay, star jump and throw your accessories in the air if you love them...

4.       Mix and match. It’s so important to know what you already own and how to enhance that.

5.       Be open. That goes for you and me. Incorporate your lifestyle and ideas and let’s figure out how we can work together.

I’m sure learnt much more than that, I just haven’t realised it. Either way it’s a pleasure to shop, whether it’s for you or me. Whether it’s for vintage or new, it’s all fabulous darling.
