Mamma Made Me

So you may have seen from Facebook we are still very excited to be involved with the Chevali designers program and this weekend we listed our first dress which was custom made just for Chevali.

The dress comes from Melbourne design duo (And mother and daughter of course) 'Mamma Made Me'. Dani Simoni the designer and I have been friends and worked together for a while. Dani and I also worked together on the Chevali shoot in January where she was creative director. Dani is incredibly stylish and one day she came to work in a dress that I just loved. (See pics below of Dani) and I asked her if Mamma Made Me could design and make one for Chevali.

The dress is in a size 12 and in a gorgeous chiffon snake print. Its delicately handmade and incredibly versatile. I asked Dani to tell us a bit more about Mamma Made Me and their inspiration.

Dani grew up always wanting to be in fashion but didn't really know how or where she would fit, so she fell into advertising instead and pursued it on the side. As a child Dani hated that her mum dressed her in customised clothing which she had made especially for her. Her mum has worked in the fashion industry for over 40 years in all areas from swimwear to bridal and for some major fashion brands. Now of course Dani wouldn't have it any other way and regularly wears clothing that they have designed and made together.

Through her mum Dani learnt about quality and craftsmanship which became useful when her friends wanted a shopping stylist.  Clothes to Dani have always been what suits the body and not just what is of the moment. We totally agree on this, you can't wear wet look leggings just because they are fashionable, only about 2% of the population can pull that look off!
