Find your perfect Christmas day outfit

OK so I know its been a very long time between posts, and I promise that I have the best reason ever. There is a baby Chevali on the way and the past 3 months have been less than than stylish. But now we are the second trimester it's time to devote some love to Chevali again, and this week I've been asked again (like last year) what to wear on Christmas day.

There doesn't seem to be any set rules for Christmas day and each family is different, so I always say try to blend in with your surroundings. Here in Australia we have a more relaxed vibe based on the weather, but being English in the past I've had some very formal Christmas's and some more relaxed ones. I've created 3 different outfits below (Thanks again Polyvore! Love that site), that reflect some of my experiences with Christmas day. I hope you find them useful!

1. The relaxed (but still classy) Christmas.

Christmas in a warmer climate is always fun because you don't need to layer up. This means you can still be comfortable in stunning maxi skirts and dresses but still look good. I'm a huge fan of mixing neutrals together and you may well find you already own a lot of items like this that you can just mix together. Thrown in some sunglasses and you have an outfit that is smart enough for Christmas lunch or dinner, but also relaxed enough for a walk on the beach afterwards, or a trip to the local pub.

2. The classic English Christmas.

I'm a skinny jeans and blazer girl, I always have been. And Christmas day doesn't mean you have to give that up. If you trade in your blue jeans for my wardrobe staple, the skinny black and dress it up with a nice singlet, coloured blazer and fun jewellery, you instantly have a smart casual favourite. Boots give it some elegance and some practicality for a walk to the pub or to your friends house. The clutch is a nod to something beautiful and dresses up the outfit. Even if you take off the blazer when you get warm infront of the fire you still have a nice piece of jewellery to add some sparkle.

3. The posh cold Christmas

Sometimes Christmas day can be a rather posh affair, and this outfit is perfect for a tasteful and upmarket Christmas dinner. Perfect for cocktails and sitting down to a 3 course meal, this dress will allow you to over eat! A nice warm well cut coat to keep you warm in the snow, with a gorgeous pashmina. Some classic hair clips give you a victoriana feel, and the clutch adds to elegance. Keeping to greys, whites and blacks adds to the formality of the occasion.

And of course, anything in between these styles works! Wherever you will be going, and even if you are staying at home, remember Christmas day is a nice opportunity to just add a bit of class to your outfit.

Which is your favourite?
