So, a personal shopping challenge! And of course I accepted. I mean who doesn’t want to spend someone else’s money? So with my budget of $150 and the brief from Sally sat next to me on the desk I ransacked the ASOS site. Unfortunately it appeared that the entire population of the UK was doing the same which made for an incredibly slow process. I missed out on a few awesome dresses but I still prevailed.
Whilst I was looking, I was very aware of the fact that doing this online is even harder than in real life. Normally you can check colours and sizes against your ‘subject’ but I had to imagine the clothing on Sally. And that doesn’t take into account the fact that sometimes online the photos might not do the item justice or vice versa.
There were a few awesome dresses that had a great style, but the colour would not have worked for her. This one in particular. (see pic) Sally likes dresses that come in at the waist and fall below the knee, and this is one that can be dressed up or down. But unfortunately this colour would totally wash Sally out.
Sally wanted some shoes and accessories but the budget didn’t really stretch that far as shoes were in the $100 region. I know she has a good set of classic shoes so I concentrated more on a few pieces that will work with the rest of her wardrobe and give her maximum bang for her buck.
I contemplated pasting all of the items here but I want it to be a surprise when she gets them. She just needs to take out the gorgeous pair of Kurt Geiger Wedges that I bought myself at the same time. Oops. When the items arrive next week we’ll head directly to Sally’s wardrobe to work out her ways to wear and take some photos in the process. We’ll look at what works and what doesn’t work and match items to shoes, bags and accessories.
Stay tuned, it might be a roaring success. It might not.....
