Adult Onesies - WTF?
Ok so I know it has been an inexcusable amount of time since my last post, but baby Chevali has been keeping me very very busy! And its actually because of baby Chevali I have come out of the baby vortex to write this post!
Since having a baby I've become obsessed with shopping for her (Thank god I had a girl) and I just love the amount of cute onsies that you can buy. There is a whole section of new shops that were never on my radar that I can now lose my money in. I've also become an avid bargain hunter too, and there I was in K-mart (Don't judge me) the other day picking up some bibs and checking out their onesies when I saw an entire section of Adult onesies. Baby Grows no longer stop at age 1, they stop at age 70!!!
As I walked around the shopping center it wasn't just K-Mart, Target and Big W that was selling them, I saw them in Sussan and other mid level high street stores and in every 2 dollar store that I went past. Have I missed something. When did this become a thing?
OK so I get it if I see them in Peter Alexander, they can be cute and fun for a girls Pajama party, but why would a guy wear them? I posted on our Facebook page recently 'Adult Onsies Yes or No' and its 90% a no from everyone so far. Now don't get me wrong I can see the attraction of putting one of these bad boys on if I was on my own at the snow and it was utterly freezing, but we don't live in the depths of Canada in the middle of winter so when are they being worn?? If someone can shed some light on this for me please let me know.
I can only assume there is a novelty value in them, like snuggies. I first realised they did adult sizes when I saw my auntie on her 70th birthday doing a roly poly in them - yes really. She is soooooo lucky I haven't posted that photo here. I didn't think she would like living on google images forever! And talking of google images, I scoured the web looking for just one photo of someone looking half decent, I didn't find one. Not even the hot guy in the bunny suit above does it for me. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. I found another blog post here( When did this become popular - The real Sasha) from someone asking the same question, except she found an entire shop dedicated to them!!!
Lets hope they don't evolve like Uggs have with people wearing them in public instead of sticking to keeping them in the home. It is not OK to go to the shops in an adult onesie. OK?
I have read all your blog and your blog is awesome as you write on adult onesies. Thanks for sharing your views.
